An Absolutely Lovely Day!

Today has been such a nice day that I decided to share it with you all!

Last night we went out dancing so I expected to sleep in, but I actually woke up around 8:30 to a room full of bright sunshine. I stayed in bed for a few more hours just drowsing and eventually dragged myself out of my nice warm bed to get some things done. I finished my taxes (what better to do on a Sunday morning?), took a quick shower and made myself a nice lunch. Actually, my lunch was some leftovers from last night that were even more tasty today. Just as I was finishing my lunch Kelly showed up at my apartment and I proposed that we go for a walk since it was so nice. Our plan was to get some iced coffees and go to the loch, but we never actually made it there. Instead we wandered all over Cork taking pictures. We started out with Laura and got coffees at a cute little shop (I got a DELICIOUS blended mocha!) and then we walked her to one of the movie theaters in town where she was meeting Charles (a french guy that she's been seeing for quite a while now). After we dropped her off on her date we decided to just keep walking. Here are our pictures!

This is actually about a minute from my apt. The building on the left is the Cork College of Commerce. We can see that building from the living room window.

Just pretty part of the south channel of the Lee. It was actually very low today (at the time that we were out), but still very pretty.

This is the front gate to my college. I'll have to go back someday and get a better picture with fewer cars.

Eventually we wandered back into the city center, then down by the main movie theater. The theater is actually on the north channel so we decided to cross the river and wander along it because we almost never go over there. The next few pictures are of the north channel.

This is just a cute little street.

This is where St. Patrick Street runs into the river.

This is the back entrance to our favorite pub! We're actually going here tonight to see a band tonight. It's what we typically do on Sunday nights.

This is back on the south channel kind of across the street from the Thirsty.

This is the street that the manager of the Thirsty lives on. We went to a Superbowl party at his apartment.

More south channel.

This is a boat building place that we went to on a fieldtrip with my Irish class a few weeks ago. Once a week we have to take a culture class and this one was about the tradition of boat building. This upcoming Wednesday we're going to a primary school to talk to the kids there (in Irish!) and see how their schools work.

On our way back home, across from the Beamish factory (that is shutting down this month).

I just love the little green building on the river...

And finally back home again!

The entire thing took a little over 2 hours. It was great...the weather was just wonderful. Very warm (about 50ยบ) and sunny, though it was spitting rain every once in a while. Nothing too bad though. Now I'm going to do a bit of studying before dinner, then off to the Thirsty for the band!

Definitely a lovely day :)

Oh my. I am ever so jealous! I fear i'll never get to Ireland now that i'm married with kids. I'll have to live vicariously through you. :) Glad to see you're doing well!
